Lancaster & District Green Party is one of the most successful local Green Party groups in England. In 1999 five Greens were elected to the City Council for the first time. Since then we have won a seat on Lancashire County Council and in 2003 increased the number of Green Councillors on the City Council to seven.At the recent 2007 local election we won a further 5 seats giving us a total of 12 councillors.Despite being a small political group on the Council we have had a big influence on the way that the council is run. We have succeeded in getting many new initiatives debated and implemented, and in blocking decisions which we believe would be harmful to our communities.
You can be involved with the Green Party locally from small stuff to big stuff. From helping to deliver our regular Greenview newsletters in your neighbourhood to organising public meetings on enviromental issues - or even becoming a local Green Councillor!

Mini Manifesto 2007 - 2011
This is the Green Party’s mini-manifesto for the Lancaster District for the next four years. In it we highlight some of our recent achievements as local Green councillors and outline practical policies for the direction in which we think our district should go.We want good and well-run services, and stable, strong communities. However we also want to tackle the environmental and social crises that we face today.
