Cllr Emily Heath

Emily Heath is in her mid-thirties and has been a councillor for Scotforth West ward since 1999. She lives in the ward, and works part-time as a lecturer in Environmental Sciences at Lancaster University. She is a member of the Council’s Overview & Scrutiny Committee and the multi-agency Sustainability Partnership. She likes walking in woods and hilly places, and gave up flying in 1995 to minimise her carbon footprint. She is also the NW regional co-ordinator of the Green Party.

Cllr Jane Fletcher

Jane Fletcher lives in Scotforth West, the ward she represents. She is motivated by the problem of Fuel Poverty and runs a business advising on insulation, heating and renewable technology measures to reduce people’s bills, energy consumption and carbon emissions. She is also a qualified English teacher and has worked as a Lecturer at Lancaster and Morecambe College and previously taught at Crookhey Hall School for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Jane has served on a number of Council Task Groups – which has recently involved supporting local schools facing closure under Labour’s Academies programme. She is also a member of the Planning & Licensing Committees. In her spare time she enjoys dancing, cooking and going to the theatre and cinema.

Cllr Chris Coates

Chris Coates is both a City Councillor and County Councillor for Lancaster Central Division, which covers Scotforth West, Castle Ward,  and parts of the rural area to the south of Lancaster including Glasson Dock and Cockerham. He is Chair of the Marsh Community Centre Trustees, a Trustee of the National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI) – Lancaster . Chris is a time-served carpenter who now works as a freelance project manager on community based construction projects. The last major project he worked on was an extension for the offices of the Ecology Building society. He lives on Coverdale Road with his partner.
