Cllr Jude Towers

Jude Towers

Jude lives with her partner Adam in Bowerham. She has spent the past seven years working with young people, first for an educational charity and later at Lancaster University. She is currently completing a degree in Global Politics, with particular interests in social policy and political economy. Elected last May, Jude is the first Green Party councillor in John O’Gaunt ward, where there is loads of case work going on, particularly dealing with fly tipping and litter. Jude sits on the Overview & Scrutiny Committee of the City Council, which scrutinises both Council and other organisations for their procedures and contributions to life in the District. Jude also sits on the boards of Barton Road Youth & Community Centre and Lancaster Citizens Advice Bureau, additionally volunteering with CAB’s social policy working group.

County Cllr Sam Riches

Sam was elected as the County Councillor for the Electoral Division of Lancaster East in June 2009.  Lancaster has been her home for the last four years. Besides being a councillor Sam works part-time as the Co-ordinator of the Centre for North-West Regional Studies, which is based at Lancaster University. She has a  background in adult education, especially organising open-access courses, and sometimes teaching them, in the areas of history, archaeology and ecology. “The North-West of England is a fascinating area which has a vibrant history going back over 2,000 years, and I’m delighted to be able to do my bit to allow the people who live here to access their heritage.” .
