Main Street Resurfaced

red-road.jpgThe narrow stretch of Cockerham Main street between the Village Hall and the junction with the A588 has been resurfaced and has had red ‘rumble strips’ maked on it. County Cllr Chris Coates said ” This is a potentially dangergous bit of road because it is so narrow. Lorrys come off the A588 far too fast just here putting pedstrians at a real risk.”

Cllr Coates has put forward Cockerham village for a review of the speed limits through the village as part of the national review of speed limits on A&B roads.


Go to School on an Free Range Egg

fr-eggs.jpgPUPILS returning to school today across Lancashire will find only free range eggs on the dinner time menu. From the start of the school year, Lancashire’s catering staff will be cooking up their usual treats using only free range eggs. The decision will affect more than half a million eggs each year.

Knott End Ferry to Run All Year Round.

knottendferry.jpgThe Knott End to Fleetwood ferry is to operate throughout the year. A trial service was run last year, when the ferry was used by over 6,000 passengers. Now Wyre Borough Council has agreed to fund the ferry for a regular winter service .

Gina Dowding said “ This is really good news. The ferry trip saves residents in the Knott End area a 25-mile round trip. It is a vital piece of the local public transport jigsaw.”

Green New Deal

agc.jpgA conference of Green councillors from across the country has pledged to use new legal powers to create thousands of jobs through green regeneration projects. The Association of Green Councillors was responding to the new Sustainable Communities Act, which gives local authorities the right to request new powers from central government to promote local economies.
