Recycling is being made easy for residents in the West End of Morecambe. Lancaster City Council, in association with Winning Back Morecambe’s West End, is making changes to the way waste is collected to help reduce litter and improve recycling.Five mini-recycling bring sites have been created in various locations around the West End where residents can deposit recyclable waste.

There was a full cycle rack outside Morecambe town hall this week as councillors took part in national cycle to work day. At the invitation of the Green group a number of councillors from other parties joined the Greens in backing the districts cycle demonstration town team’s call for people to get on thier bikes and cycle to work.
Green Cllr Jude Towers has been liasising with the new Chair of the City Council Planning Department to try and ensure the impact of new developments on local residents whilst in the construction phase, are taken fully into account.
Currently Stirling Road residents are being impacted on by contractor parking from the new development of flats opposite the White Cross pub. The Council’s Planning Department has agreed to discuss this issue with site management and to investigate how in future developments the impact of issues such as contractor parking on surrounding streets can be minimised.
Watch out for the Eatlocal sticker at food outlets across the district over the late spring bank holiday.
EatLocal is a project to promote locally sourced ingredients in the Lancaster district. It believes food and drink ingredients should be grown in, or close to, Lancaster district, and by sustainable farming methods.

The film,produced by Contaminant Media and animated by sought-after Shroom Studios, uses no actors; instead real people were invited to discuss their concerns, making a compelling argument for Green solutions for a more affordable and fairer society.
