The deadline for getting responses in is Aug 7th.

Councillors Cycle to Work

cycle-to-work2.jpgThere was a full cycle rack outside Morecambe town hall this week as councillors took part in national cycle to work day. At the invitation of the Green group a number of councillors from other parties joined the Greens in backing the districts cycle demonstration town team’s call for people to get on thier bikes and cycle to work.

Care Trust to be Taken to Task

Council Double Quick Clean Up

litter-before.jpgFollowing coverage in the local Citizen newspaper of the discovery of a hidden ‘litter trap’ in Burrow Beck. (At the point where it goes under the canal at Deep Cutting via a sump.) Prompt action by local Green Councillor Chris Coates and City Council Direct Services has seen the eyesore cleaned up in double quick time. (more…)

Appletree Nursery Opens it Doors

appletree.jpgAppletree Nursery & Children’s Centre on Milking Stile Lane threw open its doors on Thursday 8th May for a Vision Day. People from the local community were invited to come and look around the newly extended and refurbished building and add their voice to the vision of the new children’s centre.

Green County Councillor Chris Coates Said after his tour “The facilities here are superb. The classroom in the nursery is equipped with the highest quality play equipment and the sensory room is a real treat.”

Appletree has extended it range of services and is hoping to expand further in the future with plans for a community garden on land next to the nursery.For more information see the Appletree website.

Green Gains Across the Country

rosette.jpgLast weeks local elections saw gains for the Green Party across the country. The biggest gains were in Norwich where the party won 3 seats and became the official opposition on the council. The party also won seats in Solihull and Cambridge places where it had previously no councillors. In the London Assembly election the Green vote increased and the parties two assembly members were returned with over 8% of the vote. (more…)

Department of DIScontinuing Education

Centros Back With ‘New’ Plans

centros.jpgDevelopers Centros have been back in town showing the latest version of their plans for the controversial redevelopment of the Canal Corridor area of town to local councillors and interested parties. Planning applications for this version of the scheme are due to be submitted in the 2nd week of June.
