2007 saw a spate of proposals for new mobile phone masts in South Lancaster, which caused huge public concern, particularly about any potential health risks from living close to these masts.One local resident, Derek Harrison, after leading the successful campaign against the proposed Bowerham Lane telecommunications mast, has continued to research the issues.
Derek will be sharing his findings in a public meeting, ‘Mobile Phone Masts Can Seriously Damage Your Health?’ organised by the North Lancashire Green Party. Come along and hear what one local man has to say and how his research has led him to continue investigating and campaigning on this issue, which affects so many of us.
North Lancashire Green Party Chair, Melanie Forest, said ‘The ongoing lack of conclusive research into the potential health effects of telecommunication masts is of great concern to me. Communities are living with, or under the threat of, these masts, without knowing what potential harm they and their families may suffer in the long-term. The Green Party belieives these fears must be taken seriously and call on the Government to undertake comprehensive, independent research as a matter of urgency.’
