Care Trust to be Taken to Task
The way the decision to site a new mental health unit on Royal Albert fields in Lancaster was taken is to be looked into by Lancashire County Council’s health scrutiny committee. A task group is being set up to consider whether the site selection consultation by Lancashire Care Trust was properly carried out.
County Councillor Chris Coates, who is a member of the Adult Social Care & Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee, said “Local residents are angry that the first many of them knew about the Trusts plans was after the decision was made. If this is not looked into the only conclusion you can make is that the Trust had already decided what it wanted to do and the consultation was a sham.”
The County Council will be contacting all Lancaster residents who have submitted concerns to let them know what will be happening and some of them will be invited to formally give evidence to the task group.
Anyone who wants to make their views known to the Task group should contact the County Council on Telephone: 01772 536659
