Lighting the Way
Following concerns raised by a number of local residents about how dark the alley is between Adelphi Street and Havelock Street, at the bottom end, leading up from Bowerham Road, Green Councillor Jude Towers made an application to the Community Safety Partnership for the installation of an additional street light.
Jude Said “ I am very pleased to let you know I have just received word that the application has been successful and a new streetlight should be installed at the bottom end of the alley, in the next twelve months.”
Residents had complained that during the winter months residents they had found it difficult to negotiate the alley in the dark on foot and by bike, particularly around dustbin day, when there are numerous obstacles to trip over or collide with! Additionally, residents have also expressed concerns that in the dark, it is impossible to see if anyone is hanging around in the alleyway.
