Royal Albert Fields Mental Health Unit

royal-albert.jpgRoyal Albert Residents Association (RARA) say they will fight plans for a mental health unit which could be built close to their homes. On Tuesday night a meeting was held at Scotforth Parish rooms to discuss the plans and ways of stopping any proposals to build on fields behind their homes.

Speaking at the meeting County Councillor Chris Coates who sits on the Adult Health Overview & Scrutiny Ctte said: “I think the NHS are about to let down people who suffer from mental health problems by putting a mental health unit in an inappropriate site.”

Lancashire Care NHS Trust are expected to choose the Royal Albert Fields, in Ashton Road, Lancaster, as their “preferred option” for a new multi-million pound, 150-bed unit at a meeting to be held in Accrington on February 28.
