” Thorns in the Red Rose “

ccbrew2.jpgCanal corridor developers Centros Miller have admitted that their plans had hit the buffers in Lancaster. In an interview in Property Week they admitted “‘The job of development is hard enough, but Lancaster is particularly sensitive and has a very vociferous Green Party.’

Centros had to go back to the drawing board late last year when their proposed scheme for a massive (400,000 sq ft) shopping scheme was opposed by a combination of local residents group – Its Our City, local green councillors, English Heritage, County road engineers and Argos!

New plans are expected to be submitted later in the spring – these will be subject to a new round of public consultation and are now not expected to go to the planning committee until much later in the year.

See here for details of the Green Party Alternative Plan for the area.
