Bulk Ward Tree Planting
To celebrate National Tree Week (21st Nov. – 2nd Dec.), Green Cllrs in Bulk organised tree planting events with local children in schools across the ward. Events have taken place over ‘Environment Weekend’ on 26th Nov. at Christ Church Primary School and on a ‘Tree Planting Day’ at Ridge County Primary School on 25th Nov.
Both events saw local children helping to plant 110 trees in total. Both schools, which sit within large, open grounds, will benefit in years to come from a mixture of broad-leaf, deciduous varieties including Beech, Oak, Hawthorn, Silver Birch, Hazel and Mountain Ash.

The children all helped to dig holes, plant and stake the trees and the events were thoroughly enjoyed by all those involved. Many thanks to Brackenwood Garden Centre, Preston for supplying the trees. We are also grateful to Lancaster City Council staff for their enthusiasm and assistance during the events.
Bulk Green Cllrs also organised a tree planting event at Lancaster Central High School which took place on Thursday 29th Nov. 150 ‘Year 7’ pupils tried their hand at digging and tree-planting in and around the grounds of Central Lancaster High. The children planted a total of 32 trees (broadleaf deciduous varieties) and over 1,000 bulbs
