Children will be “blown away”
The children of Quernmore Primary School are celebrating the installation of 5kW Iskra AT5-1 wind turbine on a 12 metre mast in their school grounds. Quernmore Primary is an Eco-Schools Green Flag award-winning establishment that over the course of recent years has successfully integrated the teaching of environmental issues into its curriculum. The wind turbine should appreciably reduce the school’s carbon footprint and will also contribute towards Government targets to produce more energy from renewable sources.
“It’s a great achievement. It’ll help us learn more about electricity and how it works and it’ll save money for the school!” said Matthew and Isaac (Year 6). The Turbine was installed by Lancaster-based company, Woosh Energy.
