School Closures Meeting
Lancashire County Council Deptuty Chairman Alan Whittaker still considers the establishment of a privately sponsered Academy School in Lancaster as the best way forward for secondary schools in the district. He made this statement at a meeting in Lancaster Town Hall of the City Council Task Group that is looking into the issues surounding the proposed closures of Hornby & Skerton High schools
Green members of the task group Cllr Andrew Kay & Cllr Jane Fletcher quizzed Cllr Whittaker and senior education officers from the County Council on thier proposals for the two schools. The group also heard from members of the public and staff from the schools who were present. The task group has further meetings at each of the schools timetabled.
