Guantanamo Bay Muslim Chaplain Talk
As part of the IAS Annual Research Programme 2007/08 ‘New Sciences of Protection: Designing Safe Living’ a talk will be given by: Former US Army Muslim Chaplain James Yee 28 November 2007, At Lancaster University George Fox Lecture Theatre 1, 16.30-18.00. Captain James ‘Yusuf’ Yee reflects on his service as a US Army Muslim Chaplain serving at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and his subsequent wrongful arrest on charges of spying and aiding the Taliban and Al-Qaeda. Chaplain Yee’s experience raises troubling questions about patriotism, citizenship, and safe living in the post-9/11 US.
