Canatex Gas Storage Plans Thrown Out
Controversial plans by Energy company Canatex to store natural gas in underground salt caverns at Preesall have been thrown out by planning inspectors. Canatex wanted to store more than one million tonnes of gas in salt caverns beneath the Wyre estuary. A public inquiry was held and the plans have now been dismissed by the Communities Secretary Hazel Blears. More than 10,000 residents initially protested against the plans.
Full details of the decision can be found on the Protect Wyre Group’s Website.
