Recycle Your Tetra Packs
Lancaster City Council in conjunction with Tetra Pak Ltd and the carton industry Alliance for Beverage Cartons and the Environment (ACE UK), has launched a new carton recycling scheme at bring points throughout the district this week. The new project means you can now take used tetrapak cartons to special collection bins at the following locations: Tesco, Morecambe / Asda, Lancaster / George Hotel, Torrisholme /Greaves Park, Lancaster / Booths, Carnforth.
Once collected they can be taken away to be baled, transported to a recycling mill.Where they will be recycled into a number of different products, ranging from plasterboard liner to high-strength paper bags and envelopes.
Cllr Jon Barry Cabinet member responsible for recyling said “I am delighted that we can now recycle Tetra Paks - albeit at a limited number of sites. If the project is successful, then hopefully we can increase the list of sites.”
