It would be shameful if in regenerating the canal corridor the council swept away what limited provision there is in the town for those who find themselves without a home. The Homeless Centre on Edward Street should be retained in any new development and any new housing should include an emergency hostel and a half-way house to help ease the city’s homeless crisis.
