After waiting over six months to get a fence repaired council housing finally came and put up a new fence in front of the tenants bungalow in Holly Walk on the Marsh Estate after Castle Ward Councillor Chris Coates intervened on the tenants behalf.
The wobbly fence was first reported during last summer – a council workman came and pushed the fence over in September. Which is how things remained until Cllr Coates got involved just before Christmas.
“It’s just not acceptable that it takes half a year to get a fence fixed.” Said Chris after the repair had finally been carried out. “Fence repairs were being funded through the emergency repairs fund and what with the recent high winds and the age of many of the fences on the estate it seems the money was running out.”
Next years council housing budget has now got a fence repair fund to help with dealing with the backlog of old and damaged fences on estates.
